Our Mission

The Fayetteville Shale has become the latest non-conventional reservoir to gain national attention. Southwestern Energy is the primary operator in the play. However, many other companies are eagerly trying to gain a foothold in the Fayetteville Shale as well. For those who are unfamiliar with the Fayetteville Shale, it is considered a Barnett Shale analog. Due to the rising interest in the play, ShaleQuest Partners was formed in 2005 to prepare a thorough geologic and petrophysical evaluation of the Fayetteville Shale in the eastern portion of the Arkoma Basin. The study was expanded to include an analysis of the upper and lower Moorefield Shale due to recent completions by operators in the Moorefield. Several wells outside the main study area were also included in the Fayetteville Shale study becasue they supplied critical data for the various maps that were constructed.
